ecoBirdy: Sustainable Children's Furniture

ecoBirdy wants to empower kids to care for a more sustainable future. They believe that starting teaching the little ones can have a big impact on our earth’s future.

“A collection made of 100% recycled plastic is not easy. There a lot of effort in guaranteeing safety and insisting on high quality. This makes it more complicated and difficult than making new design furniture from virgin plastic. All products are made of ecothylene®. An innovative material – developed by ecoBirdy – that separates the recycled plastic by color.”

EcoBirdy Program

ecoBirdy has created a school programme to raise awareness among kids. A storybook - designed by ecoBirdy for children - tells an appropriate story to raise the youngsters’ consciousness for plastic waste and its recycling. By throwing unused plastic toys into our collection container the kids are supported and inspired to contribute to a more sustainable future.
They work collaboratively to create multipurpose products by partnering with master artisans in Central and South America which ensures craft preservation and job creation in these regions. The patterns, colors, and textures are meant to be mixed, matched, and layered for today’s modern home. Designs are informed and inspired by Feminist art, the Bauhaus, traditional craft, and vintage textiles.

Story Book Inspired by Real Life
A huge storybook, designed by ecoBirdy especially for children, teaches them about the use of common plastic toys, how it can be harmful to our planet and how old plastic toys can be given a new life.

Empower to contribute
A large collection container is brought to every school visit to show pupils how they can contribute to a more sustainable future. Children and parents are then invited to bring their own old and unused plastic toys from home.

Transparency of upcycling
All kids and parents are asked to leave their contact when bringing old toys. They will receive an email as soon as their old toys is given a new life. We want our story to be kept in mind and make the upcycling process transparent.

the eu-funded ecobirdy project saves old toys from their fate. they are recycled into colourful designer furniture for kids.
