Recrafted Work: Upcycled Capsule Collection By FILIPPA K x STINARAND

FILIPPA K x STINARAND celebrates the creative potential of circular design with bespoke pieces crafted entirely from upcycled Filippa K materials. Recognized for her innovative use of materials and techniques, emerging Swedish designer Stina Randestad evokes a sense of joy through bold colors and unexpected silhouettes.

The Mesh Dress:

Floor-length dress with a straight silhouette and asymmetric mesh layers. Constructed from scraps of three upcycled Filippa K dresses and two prototype garments in various materials such as silk, satin, and triacetate. The base garment is a modified past collection viscose dress. Stinarand’s signature three dimensional fabric technique is achieved by laser cutting the outer layers to create a fringed mesh, which is fastened to the lining by fabric covered buttons at the neckline. Black lines between the panels are made from high-shine textile foil on discarded plastic. Designed with extra long sleeves, broad shoulders, a straight boat neck opening, and adjustable belted waist.

The Wavy Knit:

Slim knit in viscose elastane, constructed from two upcycled and hand dyed Filippa K milano knit sweaters. Stinarand’s signature “stiff and stretchy” wave design technique is achieved from stitching foil-coated heavy cotton canvas ribbons with the knitted material, creating a unique wavy appearance at the front and sides of the garment. Fitted silhouette with vertical seams, a below hip hem, and deep v-neck opening.

THE COLLAGE CARDIGAN:

Oversized cardigan crafted in a collage pattern constructed from five upcycled mohair and wool Filippa K sweaters and leather belt material. Stinarand’s signature “stiff and stretchy” wave design technique is achieved by stitching together alternating colours of knitwear panels with sections of black embossed croco leather. Floor length with a wide flat collar and clean front opening. Long sleeves with deep arm openings. Fully lined with acetate and heavy wool.

The project was born from a natural match of values and took shape through a collaborative process at our Stockholm atelier. From the Filippa K archives of second hand items, samples, and claims, Stina identified pieces with the potential of new life to inform her creative vision. The resulting capsule collection of six expressive designs leverages imperfections to redefine beauty in fashion.
